Information presented was taken from old catalogs, articles, product packaging brochures and interviews with elderly tackle makers or their families.
Seven years of research and collecting have resulted in identification of six major companies and several smaller businesses. An arbitrary cutoff date of starting business before 1970 was used for inclusion of the histories. Updates will be made as new information becomes available.

It contains about 85 pages of the history of fishing tackle made in Manitoba between 1920 and 1980.
The 12 manufacturers included all started making lures and other tackle before 1970. Each chapter has a history of the company or individual involved, and a listing of the lures and other tackle produced.
The primary focus is on lures. Descriptions and pictures are provided to serve both historians and collectors.
